The NIT Tournament will kick off on Tuesday night, as March Madness builds up a full head of steam and hurtles headlong into full-fledged basketball fever.
The Texas-Arlington Mavericks will play in the first round of the tournament as a No. 8 seed and will take on the No. 1 seed Washington Huskies, who were passed over for the 2012 NCAA Tournament, despite winning the regular-season Pac-12 title.
The Huskies have gone on record as saying they'll be viewing the NIT as the NCAA Tournament and will be looking to make the selection committee regret passing them over as a First Four team for Pac-12 runner-up California Golden Bears.
The Mavericks, for their part, will try to prove that they're no slouch themselves as the regular-season champions of the Southland conference.
Tuesday night's game will tip off at 10:00 p.m. ET and will air on ESPNU.
