Steelers vs. Cowboys, Week 15: Dallas mounts comeback

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

After another late win, the Dallas Cowboys are back in control of the NFC East.

After three straight victories and struggles by the defending champion New York Giants the Dallas Cowboys are back in control of their own playoff destiny. Dallas needs to win its final two games, at home against New Orleans and at Washington, to reach the playoffs as the NFC East Champion.

Washington, New York, and Dallas were all tied at the top of the division at 8-6 by the close of business on Sunday. Washington has now won five in a row after beating Cleveland earlier in the day, while New York's shutout loss at Atlanta dropped them into the first-place tie.

As SB Nation's Blogging the Boys states, it really is an impressive comeback:

The Dallas Cowboys just refuse to lose now. Faced with another Sunday of dire circumstances, the Cowboys played another nail-biting extravaganza and once again escaped victorious. This version was a 27-24 overtime thriller over the long-time rival Pittsburgh Steelers, in front of a divided crowd in their home stadium. Well, all those Steelers fans that "travel well" will have a long solemn flight back to their points of origin after Dan "Split'Em" Bailey nailed his seventh game winning kick of his young career to send Dallas to an 8-6 record with two games to go.

Dallas got a number of great performances on Sunday. Tony Romo threw for 341 yards and two touchdowns while DeMarco Murray rushed for 81 yards and a score. Brandon Carr made the critical interception in overtime and returned it to the one yardline to set up the winning field goal.
