After being torched in their meeting with the Baylor Bears last year, the Oklahoma Sooners defense will look for redemption on Saturday.
When the Oklahoma Sooners and Baylor Bears take the field Saturday at Owen Field, one side will have added motivation. The Sooners defense and defensive back Javon Harris will look to be much more of a challenge than they were in Baylor's 45-38 win last season between the two teams.
In that contest, Robert Griffin III torched the Oklahoma with 616 passing yards and four touchdowns. The performance helped Griffin win the Heisman Trophy and hurt the Sooners chances of competing for the national title.
Yet, Harris, who was benched the final three games of last season after the embarrassing loss, is using his performance as motivation:
"Man, back in two-a-days, I used to watch the Baylor game every day. ... It's nothing new to me. I can tell you front and back, left, right, every call that happened in that game.
"I lost my spot after this game."
This season, the Sooners defense as a whole has had success, ranking 17th in the FBS with 17.8 points against per game. Harris has 23 tackles and four interceptions, including a pick-six.
The game against the Bears will kick off at 3:30 p.m. in Norman.
