Rangers non-tender Geovany Soto, Brandon Snyder, Jake Brigham

Gary A. Vasquez-US PRESSWIRE

The Texas Rangers did not offer Geovany Soto a contract before the tender deadline, but will reportedly continue to negotiate to reach a deal with the catcher.

The Texas Rangers did not offer a contract to catcher Geovany Soto before the 11 p.m. CT tender deadline, according to ESPN's Richard Durrett. The Rangers will reportedly continue to negotiate with Soto with hopes of retaining him, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. The Rangers also declined to offer contracts to Brandon Snyder and Jake Brigham. All three non-tendered players are now free agents.

Soto was acquired by the Rangers from the Chicago Cubs in July. After being acquired by the Rangers, Soto hit .196 with five home runs and 25 RBIs over 47 games.

Brandon Snyder, 25, hit .277 with 3 homers and 9 RBIs in 2012, his first season with the Rangers after spending the previous two years with the Baltimore Orioles.

Pitching prospect Jake Brigham was traded to the Cubs in the trade to acquire Soto, but was traded back to the Rangers during the season. Brigham spent the season playing for AA affiliates of the Cubs and the Rangers.
