The Mavericks led 61-53 at the half but momentum had swung in Charlotte's direction after a turnover-prone stanza for Dallas allowed the Bobcats to claw back into the game. Dallas would come out of the gates red hot in the second half, however, outscoring Charlotte 36-28 in the third quarter and building a lead that would not be challenged the remainder of the game.
Dallas shot an astounding 61.3 percent from the field and hit on 16 of 25 shots from 3-point range to overcome 22 turnovers and 23 personal fouls, most of which occurred in the first half. O.J. Mayo led the Mavericks with 30 points on 10-of-17 shooting, including 7-of-10 three pointers and six rebounds.
Starting point guard Darren Collison had another double-double, putting up 18 points and 10 assists in 32 minutes. Chris Kaman and Vince Carter would lead the Mavericks' efforts off the bench, with Kaman scoring 16 points and putting up four rebounds while Carter added 18 points in 22 minutes of play.
The Mavericks (2-1) will take on the Portland Trail Blazers next, with the game scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. CT on Nov. 5.
