TCU vs. Texas 2012: Texas fans frustrated after Thanksgiving defeat

Texas Longhorns fans feel frustrated and disappointed about this season following the loss to the TCU Horned Frogs.

The Texas Longhorns fell to Big 12 rival TCU Horned Frogs, 20-13, on Thanksgiving. TCU received the opportunity to play Texas on Thanksgiving this season thanks to the Texas A&M Aggies leaving the conference for the SEC.

The Longhorns came into the game playing well, and still had an outside shot of reaching a BCS bowl game. That shot is gone, and Texas' fans are frustrated. Writer Wescott Eberts at Burnt Orange Nation felt disappointed after the loss, and made sure to pass along the blame to all deserving parties.

Eberts first talked about the struggles of quarterback David Ash. Ash tossed two red-zone interceptions Thursday night, which severely hurt the Longhorns' chances to score.The Longhorns have played Ash and Case McCoy this season, although Ash has the higher future potential. Eberts wrote about the beleaguered quarterback, stating:

"At his best, Ash is that quarterback. At his worst, as was evident on Thursday night, Ash isn't even close to good enough."

Texas also struggled to run the football against TCU, while TCU ran the ball well against Texas. Eberts noted this problem as well, writing:

"A team that was having trouble running the football came into what should have been a hostile stadium that was instead filled with their own fans and ran the ball to the delight of the crowd like teams did earlier in the season against the 'Horns."

The author even looked wistfully to the Horned Frogs' coach, wanting Texas to hire Gary Patterson. Eberts argued:

"The fact of the matter is that Patterson evaluates better, develops better, and has been able to overcome injuries and arrests and a host of issues to beat an opponent that holds so many advantages."
