Felix Jones injury: Cowboys VP says RB 'not healthy'

Larry French

Cowboys running back Felix Jones is battling a lingering left knee injury, and now he's dealing with a banged up shoulder.

It's not getting any easier on the injury front for Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones. Not only is he dealing with a bruised left knee, Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said after practice Jones hurt his shoulder in last Sunday's loss to the New York Giants. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones says he's worried about Jones' status.

Jones says his concern stems from already being without starting running back DeMarco Murray, who is dealing with a sprained foot. Murray will likely miss this Sunday night's tilt with the Atlanta Falcons.

The former first round draft pick out of Arkansas separated his shoulder against San Francisco early last season. Jones played through the injury before undergoing surgery in the offseason to fix it. Without Jones in the backfield, the Cowboys would have to turn to Phillip Tanner, the second-year player out of Middle Tennessee State. He's averaged 2.5 yards per carry this season in limited action.
