Sean Lee is done for the season after being put on IR on Wednesday.

The end to Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee's 2012 season is now official, as the team moved Lee to injured reserve on Wednesday, according to a tweet by NFL reporter Adam Caplan. Lee's toe injury was reported to require surgery and be season-ending on Tuesday.

Lee sprained his right toe midway through the third quarter of the Cowboys' 19-17 win over the Carolina Panthers last weekend, an injury which at first wasn't expected to cost Lee any time. The middle linebacker leads the team in tackles. Fellow Penn State-product Dan Conner is expected to replace Lee in the starting linebacker.

Caplan also tweeted that punter Chris Jones was moved to IR, and that the team has signed veteran linebacker Ernie Sims and safety Charlie Peprah.

The Cowboys (3-3) host the first-place New York Giants on Sunday before hitting the road to face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9 and the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10.
