2012 NHL All-Star Game: TV Schedule, Announcers And More

The 2012 NHL All-Star game is in it's second year of having a fantasy draft instead of dividing the players up by conference or the North America vs. the World concept the league ran for a few seasons. The fantasy draft has created more buzz and excitement to the game since players are not known until the three days before the game.

The Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn was selected with the second to last pick by Team Chara which means that he missed out on being Mr. Irrelevant which would have given him a 2013 Honda Crosstour. That honor went to Logan Couture of the San Jose Sharks.

2012 NHL Skills Competition: Stars' Jamie Benn Wins Accuracy Shooting Challenge

Jamie Benn is just two weeks removed from an appendectomy and was not even expected to play in the All-Star game, but he is not only playing in the All-Star game but he is also taking part in the skills challenge. Benn competed in the accuracy shooting contest and defeated the Vancouver Canucks Cody Hodgson, the Boston Bruins Tyler Seguin, the Chicago Blackhawks Marian Hossa and Philadelphia Flyers rookie Matt Read.

The accuracy shooting competition is a contest to see how quickly a player can break four targets in each corner of the net. The player receives a pass from behind the net and then shoots it at the targets in the corner.

In the first round Benn breaking all four targets in just over 13 seconds and advanced to the finals to take on Read who took six shots to break four targets in just over 14 seconds.

In the finals Benn stepped up his game in the finals and hit four of five shots in only 10.2 seconds, and that outlasted Read who took 16 seconds to break all four targets.
