In a low-scoring and ugly affair, the Dallas Mavericks were almost able to steal a game on the road until Derek Fisher dropped in a game-winning three-pointer with only :03 left on the clock.
The Dallas Mavericks travel to the West coast to take on the Los Angeles Lakers for the first time since the 2011 NBA Western Conference semifinals which the Mavericks won in four games. After a slow start to the season the Mavericks have found their stride and have their last five games and are just a half game behind the San Antonio Spurs for the Southwest Division lead. During their winning streak, the Mavericks have won each game by double digits except for one and have won each game by an average of 18 points.
As for the Lakers, they are playing their third game in four nights and are coming off a lost to the cross-town Los Angeles Clippers 102-94 on Saturday night. One thing the Mavericks need to do is attempt to slow down Kobe Bryant who is averaging 32 points per game so far this season, but has scored 40 or more points in his last four games.

NBA Power Rankings 2012: The Mavericks' 4-Game Winning Streak Puts Them Up To No. 11
The Dallas Mavericks recent four-game winning streak has totally erased any initial doubts that observers might've had with the defending champions. Yet, three huge wins over the bottom feeders of the NBA (Detroit, Milwaukee and Sacramento) plus a big-time win over the Boston Celtics has helped give the Mavericks the type of momentum they need to go on a good run in January.
Tom Ziller released his NBA Power Rankings on Monday, and Dallas finds themselves ranked No. 11 on Monday.
The Mavericks have found a way to succeed without much contribution from Lamar Odom, and recently Odom's former coach Phil Jackson caught up with his do-everything big man to check up.
Odom will be facing his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers, on the road on Monday night.
