Dallas Cowboys Roster Moves: Marc Colombo To Be Released

With the new CBA in place between the NFL and NFLPA, the league is now open for business. Players cannot be officially released yet, but they can be informed of their release, which is exactly what is happening with offensive lineman Mark Colombo. According to ESPN Dallas, Colombo will be released by the Cowboys later this week.

Colombo, who turns 33 in October, had a roster bonus of $500,000 headed his way if he remained on the roster. The Cowboys will not have to pay Colombo's roster bonus if he is cut this week.

The writing was on the wall for Colombo after the 2011 NFL Draft when the Cowboys selected Tryon Smith out of USC. Back on April 29, Jerry Jones conceded that Colombo was likely going to be cut and that Smith would start in his rookie season.

Plenty more moves from the Cowboys are expected this week, as the team (along with every other NFL team) has to work on signing all their draftees as soon as they possibly can - while re-signing their own players and talking to free agents.
