Texas closer Neftali Feliz has been put on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said that Feliz has inflammation in his rotator cuff and he hopes that 15 days on the DL is all he’ll need.
Not that this is happy news, but the difference over two weeks between the best closer in baseball and a scrub is not a whole lot of damage over a full season. There will be a bit more tension in the late innings coming up, but, for now, that’s all. I’d be surprised if this ends up costing Texas any more than a win, at most, this season.
The concern is more whether or not this will last beyond a 15-day DL trip. It looks as though the Rangers are being cautious, so probably not too much to worry about yet, but this is at least mildly troubling.
To tell you the truth, I'm a lot more broken up by listening to Josh Lewin call another team's game on Fox right now.
