Texas RB Vondrell McGee Ruled Ineligible

Stay connected for news and updates

The Texas Longhorn running back merry-go-round will continue to involve only Fozzy Whittaker, Tre Newton and Cody Johnson, as fifth-year senior Vondrell McGee had his appeal for eligibility denied by the NCAA. McGee was deemed before the season to have not made enough progress toward graduation to retain eligibility for a fifth year.

Whittaker will start for the Longhorns Saturday in Lubbock, after Johnson and Newton received starting chances in the team's first two games. The Longhorns rushing attack is ranked 44th in the nation after two weeks, as the trio has rushed for 302 yards on 66 carries.
