Tim McMahon relays a report from L'Equipe that Mavericks second year guard Ridrigue Beaubois broke his foot while preparing for the World Championships with France's national team
Beaubois broke the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot. Mavs officials are hoping it's a hairline fracture. In the worst-case scenario the injury could require surgery, which could sideline Beaubois up to three months.
The injury is a major blow to Beaubois' offseason efforts to improve as a point guard. With Tony Parker not on the roster, Beaubois was expected to run the point for the French team.
The worst case of three months would put Beaubois' return in early November, causing him to miss all of training camp and putting his availability for the season opener in doubt.
