Per Jon Heyman of SI, the Rangers have been inquiring about Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers. Fielder, of course, is an elite power bat but will also come with a high price both in prospects and financially. He’s set to make a total of 11 million this year and will head to arbitration this winter before becoming a free agent next winter.
Fielder is hitting below his career OPS of .928 this year, posting a .262/.400/.504 line with 24 home runs thus far in 2010. Needless to say, he’d be a sizable upgrade over Chris Davis at 1B.
